Join Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection. If you want to head to the Temple of Anubis, though, you're gonna have to wait until that second floor is destroyed as well, and repeat the same process. Push the boulder, and you'll be safe from the incoming bombs and ready to enter the Tide Pool. An easy strategy is to just drop yourself to the ground after the second phase starts - land on Olmec's head and quickly run to the right. The key here is to head to the right side of the map, where you will find doors to the Tide Pool and the Temple of Anubis, respectively, depending on the floor. The bombs will continue being dropped, which means that pretty much everything will be destroyed after a few seconds, so keep this in mind. To prevent you from taking damage here, just fall on top of Olmec's head and you'll be safe. Once the floor is destroyed, make sure to fall on its head, and watch out for the second phase where it will open up its sides and throw 6 bombs. There's short moment of suspense before Olmec attacks, and that should be enough for you to escape. Always try to leave enough ground for you to run, but make sure to jump if things don't seem so well to gain that extra distance. Just get to each corner consecutively in order to expand it, dodging each one of the slams, and at one point the floor will be destroyed. So, how does someone beat Olmec? Well, there's a few things you can try.Īs a quick strategy, you can lure it to start chasing you close to the first pit it leaves behind. Here, it will always be levitating, slowly moving sideways and stopping after a few seconds to throw bombs from its sides - 2 bombs per shot at each side, three times. If you manage to surpass this phase, and bait Olmec enough for the ground to be destroyed, you will enter the second phase. It's always the same pattern, but of course, the challenge comes from the fact that you are merely running, while Olmec is a massive, heavy enemy that will obliterate your regardless of how many hearts you have. From there, once you get close to it, it will levitate to the air, head towards you, and finish with a ground slam. You'll see cavemen worshiping the giant being, just before getting crushed with immense force. You will quickly notice once you enter Olmec's Lair for the first time, since a cutscene will immediately play. The iconic figure of the first game makes itself present here, and it has an array of new tricks under its golden surface. I’d recommend dropping the bombs from the top before falling down unless you have either a jetpack or climbing gloves.Olmec's Lair is an obligatory stop whether you're coming from the Jungle or Volcana. This should take a total of four bombs to do. Use one bomb at a time to blow a hole in the floor sizable enough to make your way all the way down to the bottom. Instead, you’ll want to immediately start bombing the left-hand side of his chamber. Once you’ve entered the lair do not approach Olmec as this will trigger the boss fight. This can save you a ton of time down the line. As a side note, there’s a shortcut unlockable right after Olmec’s Lair, so be sure to bring the appropriate item if you haven’t unlocked it yet. This can be found by finishing either of the World 2 stages. Obviously, the first step is to get to Olmec’s lair. And no, it doesn’t require any exploits or cheats. In Spelunky 2 there is a strategy to completely avoid this boss fight and move on to world 4 without even fighting Olmec. I’m not going to waste your time talking about the fight’s mechanics or the best strategy to beat him, because you don’t need to know. Even so, you’ll still need to get past him in order to proceed to world 4. Olmec was the main boss of the original game, but in the sequel, he has been relegated to being a mere side boss. At the end of either the Jungle or Lava world, you’ll have to come face to face with Olmec, the first real boss in Spelunky 2.
